Kendall-Whittier Neighborhood Trust
With Growing Together
We met Growing Together in 2020 and partnered on the creation of the Kendall-Whittier Neighborhood Trust (KWNT), through 2020 and 2021. Alongside the Northeast Neighborhood Trust in Kansas City, KWNT launched as one of the first two MINTs in 2021.
KWNT serves the Kendall-Whittier and Springdale neighborhoods, home to some of the city’s most vibrant Latina(o) communities. Growing Together is a Purpose Built Communities community quarterback and sees securing affordable housing as a key strategy to support its other focus areas of education and economic development. Kendall-Whittier and Springdale are close to downtown Tulsa, border the University of Tulsa, and are home to Archer Park and Sequoyah Elementary School. The southern part of the focus area, closer to the University of Tulsa, has seen more local investments and experienced a greater appreciation in home prices, while the northern part has more vacant lots and disinvestment. KWNT works across the focus area to deliver high-quality, mixed-income housing, with a mix of preservation, renovation and new construction.
In 2025, Purpose Built Communities published a case study on the Kendall-Whittier Neighborhood Trust’s story and work to date, available here.
